Trigger point therapy is a type of muscle therapy that addresses tight and uncomfortable muscle “knots” that are unresponsive to standard massage techniques. Your therapist applies precise and specific pressure to these knots, allowing them to ease away and restore your range of motion. This intensely deep muscle therapy is not for the faint of heart and is geared towards breaking up trigger points and opening up muscle fibers to restore full function. While we work within each patient’s level of tolerance, deeper pressure can be painful, although necessary to reduce the muscle tension. Trigger point therapy aids in breaking up scar tissue and muscle adhesions caused by trauma, surgery or athletic injuries.
