A headache caused by tension or anxiety should be treated with a warm compress to relieve the pressure. A headache caused by expanding blood vessels should be treated with a cold compress to slow down the blood flow and reduce inflammation. Some patients find taking a hot or cold bath effective.
If you’re dealing with a headache caused by stress or anxiety, working out can be a great treatment. Engage in a stress-relieving exercise such as swimming, biking, walking, or jogging. Aerobic exercise will minimize the severity of a headache.
