MiRx Headache Treatments

The MiRx Protocol is a treatment program which treats headaches, facial pain, and general head pain. The protocol consists of two distinct treatment phases. During the first phase, our trained physician inserts a small, intranasal applicator into the nasal cavity and sprays a medication that stops the headache reaction of the nervous system, thereby alleviating the headache pain. This painless and safe procedure is referred to as the medical component. The second phase of the MiRx Protocol treats and rehabilitates the underlying condition, which is the physical component. This is accomplished through the trained hands of either, or both a chiropractic physician or physical therapist. These two combined phases can effectively eliminate the conditions causing your headache or face pain. These two components work together to provide long-term headache relief.

The medical component of the MiRx protocol targets a nerve cluster within the nasal cavity called the sphenopalatine ganglion. By using a specialized FDA cleared nasal applicator to deliver medication directly to this nerve cluster, headache pain is often nearly eliminated, instantaneously. Many patients go from a pain rating of 8 to a pain rating of 2 in seconds. (Numeric Rating Scale (NRS-11)).

Your feedback will help us to find biomechanical imbalances, or other physiological conditions to be addressed for long-term headache pain relief. These are commonly referred to as triggers. Resolving these issues requires care which may include, but not be limited to, physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments, corrective ergonomic recommendations, massage therapy, weight loss, dietary modifications, and stress management therapy.

Clinical data shows a recommended 4-6 week treatment schedule for the MiRx Protocol achieves the best results. Some patients can sustain long-term headache relief after just a few treatments; however, the chance of a re-occurring headache or facial pain episode is much greater, especially if the physical component is ignored. For those that have experienced chronic migraines or headaches for years, additional treatment may be necessary.
